A Heartfelt Plea to Our Friends & Family
We, at the Ritz Theatre Company, feel it is vital to report to our friends, fellow artists, alumni, and patrons that the Ritz Theatre is very much amid a fight to keep the front doors open and continue our mission. It was almost five years ago now that our Producing Artistic Director, Bruce Curless, came to you by way of his personal Facebook page and shared that he didn’t know where to turn—and you were the answer. In less than three weeks, we raised over $100,000. We wish we could say that turned us around—what it did was keep us going.
As a company, we are currently behind in several financial arenas which threaten our ability to continue our mission, including our ability to honor stipends owed to our amazing actors, technicians, and artistic collaborators. However, we now have cut costs even further and strongly believe we are in a positive position to move forward. With a new, energized Board of Directors and an almost completely new staff, we are prepared to carry on, yet we won’t be able to unless we raise the necessary capital to go forward. We hope you can join us again in our battle.
As of this writing, we just hit over 8,000 “likes” on Facebook alone. If each and every one of our followers were to donate $35, in honor of our upcoming 35th season, we would be on our way to ensuring that the Ritz remains a cultural staple in our community. Our aim is to raise $350,000 by year’s end. Help us fight the good fight. Help us keep the lights burning bright.
More than 30 years ago, the Ritz Theatre Company was founded to bring live, quality, professional productions to our region and we’re still building on that foundation today. As a training theatre, we have many alumni currently teaching and training young artists as well as working on Broadway, not to mention throughout the States and in Europe.
Throughout our 34-year history, we’ve aspired to make theatre accessible to everyone. YOU, as a group, are the reason we have kept our doors open and bring quality entertainment that, ideally, brightens our lives and exposes us to new ideas. We are so honored to have you come through our doors and support us so generously. Whether you came to see a friend on stage, to be transported to another time and place, to tap your toes to a musical, or to simply enjoy a night out, we appreciate you spending your time at the Ritz.
We kindly ask you to consider making a tax-deductible donation to the Ritz Theatre Company at this trying time. Please, share this post far and wide! No donation is too small and every dollar and share counts. Donations can be received in the following ways:
